Jump Start the VPS800A-T4
WARNING - general battery use
- To prevent personal injury or damage to clothing, do not allow battery fluid to contact eyes, skin or fabrics.
- Do not lean over a battery when connecting jumper cables or allow cable clamps to touch each other.
- Keep open flames or sparks away from battery vent holes.
- Always wear gloves and eye protection when working with batteries.
- Do not use a booster battery or any other booster source that has a system greater than 24VDC.
WARNING - cold weather use
When temperatures drop below freezing, electrolyte in a discharged battery may freeze. Do not attempt to jump start because the battery could rupture or explode. The battery temperature must be increased to above the freezing point before an attempt is made to jump start the engine.
Warning - SULFURIC ACID AND EXPLOSIVE GASES
Use extreme care when connecting jump start cables directly to the battery terminals. Terminals can explode, resulting in severe personal injury, blindness and burns. Carefully inspect the batteries and check for any signs of damage resulting in leaked sulfuric acid or vented explosive hydrogen gas. Do not attempt to jump start batteries showing any of these signs.
Caution
Do not reverse the polarity of the jumper cable connections to the generator battery. Doing so can cause personal injury and severe damage to the electrical system and the batteries (both on the generator side and on the boost side).
Damage to the battery, starter motor, alternator, or electrical system may occur if the starting unit operating voltage exceeds
Replacement batteries should be equally-sized (CCA and group number) as determined by the engine starting and electrical system requirements and to prevent damage to the generator’s charging system. The generator is equipped with two 12-Volt batteries connected in
If the batteries have been drained to the point where the engine cannot be started, it is advised to connect a charger to the batteries. If this is not possible, it may be necessary to jump start / boost the generator using one of the methods outlined below.
