Shutdown

Open generator
  1. Disengage the loads at each load's individual control switch to ensure that no load is left on the generator.

  2. Turn off all circuit breakers on the generator.
  3. Press Open Generator Main Contactor.
  4. Press Stop.
    • A cool-down sequence will run before the engine stops.
    • The engine will continue to run at 1800 RPM for approximately 4 minutes.
    • After 4 minutes, the engine will drop down to 700-800 RPM and cool down for approximately 1 minute.
  5. Press Stop again to ignore the cool-down sequence and stop the engine immediately.
  6. After the engine has stopped completely, ensure that both roof hatches are closed.
  7. Turn the Control Power Disconnect switch to the OFF position.

NOTE  The controller may take up to 20 seconds to turn off to allow the hatches to fully close.

IMPORTANT  The Control Disconnect Switch must be left on for at least 10 minutes after the engine shuts down, or until the Power Off Indicator Lamp is no longer illuminated. This additional time allows the engine control module (ECM) to properly save information and avoid data corruption. It also allows the DEF purge cycle to remove any fluid that remains in the lines. The ECM will log a fault code if the generator is powered down before 10 minutes.

Power Off Indicator Lamp

The Power Off indicator lamp is located above the Control Power Disconnect switch on the power distribution panel. The indicator lamp signals to the operator when it is safe to turn the Control Power Disconnect switch to the OFF position after the engine has shut down.

During engine shut down, the indicator lamp illuminates to signal that battery power to the ECM must be maintained until the ECM completes shut down requirements.

IMPORTANT  Do not turn off the Control Power Disconnect switch while the Power Off indicator lamp is illuminated.
